CARVE - comfortably bold jewellery workshop
Carve your own silver ring in this hands-on session, working with jewellers’ wax and professional carving tools to create your own unique design.

How does it work?
Following your Tutors guidance, you will learn to carve a wax ring template to your own design and size. Once your wax model is complete, it will be sent away to be cast into silver using the ancient art of lost wax casting. Your ring will then be hand-finished by the Tutor to your chosen specifications. Your finished silver ring will be ready within three weeks of the workshop.
This workshop is perfect for beginners or those looking to try something new. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of the lost wax jewellery making process and techniques and with a stunning creation to treasure forever.

About your Tutor
We are excited to welcome and introduce Kate Pickering, a visiting Artist to East Nook Studio!
This session will be led by Kate, an accomplished jeweller with over a decade of experience in the craft and teaching. She has been inspiring creativity and supporting emerging talent across Scotland since 2009, bringing her expertise to communities in unique and exciting ways.
Kate’s workshops have been hosted in some of Scotland’s most vibrant venues in Fife, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dumfries, Aberdeen and Inverness. Her friendly, approachable style ensures a fun and relaxed atmosphere for participants of all skill levels.
The perfect class for an individual or a group of friends to come and learn, socialise and most importantly, make some jewellery! Experience the joy of bringing your personal piece of jewellery to life. It's not just about making the jewellery—it's about having a new experience, making memories and taking home a part of your creative journey.
All materials and silver will be included.
The workshop will run for around 2.5 hours, but it can vary.
Please note, that this class will need a minimum sign up to run. If the class is under-subscribed, the studio reserves the right to reschedule. You will be notified at least 4 days before the class if the class cannot run and will have the option to be refunded in this instance.

At the moment, if you have a group of 8-14 people we can offer this as private workshop at no extra cost per person. Please note that due to having a visiting tutor, this workshop has very limited availability for private workshops and would need booked well in advance. For other workshops, we can offer a private group from 4+ people and with more regular availability. Email hello@eastnook.comto discuss the private options.
East Nook Studio is an inviting space with a friendly atmosphere and plenty of room to stretch out. There are bars and cafes downstairs for those who wish to make an evening of it!
Based in the West Port of St Andrews, East Nook Studio can be found in the Maltbarn at 205b South Street.
