Discs & Hoops: Making Silver Pendants

Discs & Hoops: Making Silver Pendants

Thursday 17th October

Round - round - baby - round - round! Another one for the indecisive! In this workshop you will create a silver pendant with chain, using circular shapes as inspiration.

Not got a creative bone in your body? We’ve got you covered! Pick from an example here, and you will be shown the steps to recreate it yourself. Simple!

We will choose our designs from discs, hoops, domes, rings and shallow cone shapes. Don’t fret! You can pick which shapes you will use on the night, after the demo!

Come along and learn how to saw, solder, form and texture, creating your own silver jewellery from scratch! In this workshop, you will design and create your own simple charms for your pendant from a piece of silver sheet and wire, before connecting it to a silver chain.

We will be using a variety of tools such as saws, hammers, files, blowtorches and a plethora of mark making tools and stamps. Once you have picked your style of shape, you can decide how you will texture or add patterns to it, learning the order in which each stage will need to be applied to complete your unique design.

The perfect classes for an individual or a group of friends to come and learn, socialise and most importantly, to make some jewellery to take home!

All materials, including silver will be included.

The workshop will run from 7 - 9.30pm but may run over, so if you have a tiht schedule, let us know on the night so that we can try to keep you on track!

East Nook Studio is a relaxing and inviting space with a friendly atmosphere and plenty of room to stretch out. Tea and coffee is available, with prosecco on offer in the evening. Placed in the west Port, we are next to all of the cool new bars! There is a cafe downstairs, as well as restaurants and a cocktail spot for those who wish to make an evening of it!

About the studio

The studio is a welcoming, friendly and charming space with wooden beam and cast iron pillars. The building is a former Malt barn from 1845, and is accessed from the main street via a cobbled path. Tea, coffee and biscuits are available at the studio, but there are many popular cafes, sandwich shops, restaurants and bars in the area.

 How to find us

East Nook Studio can be found on South Street St Andrews in the West Port, behind Con Panna café in the Maltbarn. The studio is usually only open to the public for classes, so please get in touch via email if you would like to visit, and we can arrange a date.

 Where to park

If you are coming in the evening, you can park for free on South Street. During the day, free parking can be found at Petheram bridge, (behind the bus station and all the way down to the University and Old Course hotel) and it is just a 2-5 minute walk to the studio from there.
